Frequently Asked Birthday Bourbon Questions
We are very excited about another year celebrating our founder, George Garvin Brown, on his birthday with Old Forester Birthday Bourbon. Our celebration may look different from years past, so we have put together some FAQs to help. Feel free to reach out to us if we do not answer all of your questions.
What day is Old Forester Birthday Bourbon released?
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is released every year on September 2nd in honor of our founder, George Garvin Brown’s birthday.
How can I purchase a bottle of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon?
We encourage you to reach out to your local retailer. We do not allow pre-orders of our limited release products. Please do not call the distillery to order Birthday Bourbon.
May I stand in line and camp out the night before in hopes of getting a bottle in the gift shop?
The Old Forester Distillery and gift shop will not be open on September 2nd. Please note, there will be 24-hour on-site security, and all guests trying to form a line will be asked to disperse.
Can you ship alcohol?
While shipping alcohol is legal to certain states we do not allow the preorder or shipping of our limited release products like birthday bourbon.
Will there be a speciality tour or experience surrounding Birthday Bourbon this year?
Because the distillery is still closed indefinitely, there will be no specialty tour or experience offered on September 2nd. To learn about elevated and unique tours and special events that may be offered once distillery operations resume, please subscribe to our email newsletter. To register for the newsletter, go to Oldforester.com/subscibe
How many bottles will be available for sale?
Birthday Bourbon is released every year on September 2nd. The Old Forester Distillery receives a limited amount of this highly anticipated expression. In addition to what the distillery receives, Birthday Bourbon is distributed nationally through our distribution partners. Once our distribution partners receive their allotment, they distribute those allotments within their regional markets.
Why is the Distillery not open to the public?
The Old Forester Homeplace operation continues to be closed indefinitely due to COVID-19 (coronavirus). This includes the gift shop, George’s Bar and our tour/tasting experiences. Our goal is to minimize the risk to employees and guests and help lower the probability of the spread of the virus to our employees, their families and the communities where we operate. We are currently working with our Risk Management department and as we are able to develop experiences in accordance with established safety guidelines, we will make those experiences available for booking at oldforester.com.
